Recording is consent-gated: a session can't be recorded until the client's consent is on file in Lumen, and consent status is visible on every session row. Two-party consent laws vary by state — Lumen lets you set practice-wide consent requirements and store signed consent forms, but you remain responsible for following the laws in your jurisdiction. Clients can revoke consent at any time, and you can always type or dictate shorthand instead of recording.

Yes. A Business Associate Agreement is available on both Solo and Group plans, trial included — contact us at support@lumen.1labs.app and we'll countersign before you bring any client data into Lumen. Encryption at rest and in transit, access logging, and role-based controls are the floor, not an upsell.

Session audio exists only to draft your note. Once you review and sign, the audio is permanently deleted — that's the default, not a setting. Notes are retained under your control for your records-retention obligations, and you can export or delete client records at any time. We never train models on customer data.

EHR sync is on our roadmap — SimplePractice and TherapyNotes export formats are in active development. Today, notes export as clean, structured PDF and text so they drop into any system. Group plans also get the audit-ready CSV export.

Yes. Cancel anytime from the customer portal — your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again. Cancel during the free trial and you pay nothing at all. Purchases are processed by Polar, our merchant of record; see the Refunds & Cancellation policy for details.

Nothing dramatic. We retry the charge and give you a 3-day grace period to update your payment method before access pauses. Your notes and client records are never deleted because of a billing hiccup — once payment goes through, everything is exactly where you left it.
